Hever Castle

What does Hever Castle contain ?

The Castle was built to defend against the Vikings at the beginning of the 9th century. Hever Castle was rebuilt in the 13th century. This Castle belonged to Henry VIII’s second wife: Anne BOLEYN, the most important and most beautiful Queen. It belonged to her family but the king gave it to his 3rd wife. The Tudor Castle dates back inside to the Church of England reform. The park is a typical English garden so where all seems natural but all is cut and planted by gardeners. It symbolised monarchy. The cylinder chimneys were built with some bricks. Hever is a pleasure Castle. There are some wealthy people who live in it today. They organize a lot of visits to be able to renovate the place.

On Tuesday 3rd, we visited Hever and a lot of rooms like the torture one! After we enjoyed ourselves in the water maze next to the Italian garden which had loads of beautiful Roman sculptures. There were some colourful flowers everywhere. Every group walked around the Castle all the afternoon long. We learnt a lot of things like the two, white and red, rose war.

Owing to that visit, Tuesday April 3rd 2012, was the best day! We learnt quite a few very interesting things about history while having fun! If you want to do the same and get only good memories, we advise you to go there!
